My experiences as an ordinary man

About Me

Contains:

- Asrama Bumi Ganesha

- Institut Teknologi Bandung

My name is Iman, born in 1988 in a town called Lawang, part of Malang regency, which lies 20 km north of Malang. I’m the first of 3 children my parent have. I lived and grew up for 18 years in that town and now I’m living in northern Bandung to try living a new live without being around my parent and get a much better education.

I’m a student currently studying earth interior and its physical things at a state-owned university/institute in Bandung. The subject interests me a lot because I want to know what are there inside the earth and how are things going on inside. Other thing that i want to know is how the current earth’s surface lies the way it is like what we see now.

Other questions that often appear in my minds are:

Is there any changes on the earth surface? If there is, why?

Are the mountains I always see from my home will always stay there? Or it moves along the time?

What caused earthquake?

Why is there a tall mountain called Himalaya in Asia and you will find no tall mountain in the UK.

etc.

Those questions make me choose the major Geophysics, hopefully this major i take will be useful for people and the society.

I like travelling a lot though i rarely do that due to my disability to fund the trip ) . I have a dream to travel around the world, meet lot of people, hear different languages, see different cultures, experience different ways of life and land different islands. I believe someday that dream will come true, and that day won’t be more than 20 years from now. Amin.

So far, i think i have a beautiful and colorful life. I know how it feels to have nothing to eat when you’re hungry, and i know also how it feels to be able to buy thing more than you need. I’m surrounded by great people, living in a great place, studying in a great school which makes me believe that i’m luckier and have a more comfortable life than million of people who don’t even know what to eat tomorrow. One thing that I really love is I was born, grown up, and taught as a moslem. Nothing better compared to that one.

That’s me, Iman. An ordinary Indonesian citizen who is struggling to be a better person and useful for the society.
